A waste operator's fleet obligations sit on top of its waste obligations, and they are enforced by a different body. The daily walkaround check, the defect that has to be reported and rectified, the maintenance record that has to be produced — these are the things an O-licence turns on, and they are usually kept on a pad in the cab.
WasteOptix puts the check on a form the driver fills in before they leave. The form is built to match the checks you actually run, so it is not a generic template with half the rows crossed out. Drafts and submitted checks are tracked separately, which is what stops a half-finished check from reading as a completed one.
A defect logged by a driver goes to the workshop as a defect, not as a note someone has to notice. It is closed out against the vehicle, and the repair joins that vehicle's history — so the maintenance record is assembled as you go rather than reconstructed the week before an inspection.
